Kids' SH500 Hiking Fleece

Our fleece jacket is perfect for winter. It is very soft, comfortable, and the warmest model in the range. Very practical for kids to get on/off unaided using its full zipper.

Our team, made up of parents of young hikers, developed this fleece jacket to protect kids from the cold during their outdoor activities

Fleece component: Insulation provided by air

The fleece component is designed to trap air in the space formed by its texture. This air acts as a natural insulator, keeping the body warm. It is the brushing of the knit fabric that traps the air.

Component resistance test

Resistance to wear and abrasion test: for example, we check that the fleeces do not pill using tests conducted in laboratories. Colorfastness test: the colorfastness is verified to ensure that the colors cannot bleed. Aging test: repeated washing should not affect the fabric's properties, behavior, thickness, or appearance.

Reduced environmental impact

Did you know that a plastic bottle takes 100 to 1000 years to biodegrade? We developed a fleece knit made of recycled polyester. It comes from recycled industrial scraps and plastic bottles (recycled polyester from 65% bottles and 35% recycled threads). By using recycled polyester, no new oil-based resources are used. The waste is recycled into resources that can be used again.

A score for comparing the products' environmental impact

Decathlon is the 1st French company to have implemented an environmental scoring system. This score was worked out with the ADEME (French environment and energy management agency) and some other French companies.
